A video detailing FM distortion / overloading problem on Tecsun's otherwise excellent receiver model PL-660 in FM mode. Batteries are fresh from the charger. Comparison done with PL-310ET. The problem is obvious with audio which has more bass - as youtube would flag any video with normal songs as potentially copyright-infringing, I could only do it with this patriotic song.
Frequency offset / calibration was done up and down a few kHz but this did not resolve the problem. Neither did DX/Local/Normal setting or adjusting of antenna helped.
SWLing post on the issue reveals this problem is known and not new:
I bought this from XHDATA of China but they seem to think the problem is one of local interference - which this video clearly illustrates is not the case.
