Take a trip to 5 beautiful countries to live in! I looked at 38 countries, and analyzed them based on the following criteria: total cost, healthcare, entertainment, safety, and the ease of getting a visa. Max budget $1750/month.
Which countries of the world are affordable, enjoyable, safe, and have good health care, and are friendly for expats? I break down the pros and cons of living in the best countries on an income UNDER $2000 per month — and I even provide realistic budgets.

I made a prior video looking at the cheapest countries to retire in for $1000/month. A lot of you asked for a follow up looking at higher budget, and "better" countries. So I looked at 38 countries that repeatedly show up on many lists of the best countries to live and retire in.
IT
Surrounded on three sides by the Mediterranean sea lends it a mild climate year-round. Milan, Rome, Florence, and Naples are some of the best cities. Even the smallest towns have cafes. Coffee is around $1 a cup, pasta dishes are about $10. Beer and wine start at around $5 a glass
Italy’s crime rate is only one-fifth of America’s. The national health service in Italy, Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN), provides residents — including expats — with free or low-cost healthcare. Private health insurance is around $100 a month.
Italy's visa requirements for non-EU citizens are strict. You may be required to prove you have a certain level of income or savings to be given a residence visa. check this with an Italian consulate in America before moving.

PA
Panama offers the same lush tropical climate as the best latin american countries for less money. Most American expats move to Panama City, which may be the most modern city in Central America. You’ll find many people who speak English here.
The country’s overall crime rate is about 10 percent lower than the USA. A big reason Panama made it on this list is its visa and residency programs are welcoming to US citizens through the “Friendly Nations” visa. And the country doesn’t tax income earned outside its borders.
Medical care is very cheap: $3 doctor visits, $5 specialist visits, and outpatient procedures for as little as $30. Health insurance ranges from $80 to $200+ per month.
PT
One of the safest, friendliest and most affordable countries in Western Europe. Your expenses will be about one third that in the U.S. Temperate climate, quality healthcare and high safety ratings are hard to beat.
Lisbon will be one of the most expensive places to live in Portugal. Much lower costs are in smaller cities like Castelo de Vide or Peniche. You can rent a 2 bedroom villa here for about $600 per month.
Beer is about $2, espresso is $1, dinner for 2 for about $40. Portugal is the 4th safest country in the world. It has universal health coverage through its SNS national health service. Private health insurance for two people is $80-$150 per month.
The best option for immigrating may be through the D7 visa program. This requires you to show that you have sufficient income for a 12 month stay, or about $13,000 for a couple.
RO
Romania has a temperate climate, like the US Midwest. Its largest city Bucharest, offers a blend of Old-World charm and modern luxury.
You can get a one-bedroom flat for less than $500 a month. Transylvania is home to Dracula’s Castle. Romania’s overall crime rate is about half of America’s.
Romania has free public health care for its citizens. Expats need to contribute to the social security system for at least six months to be eligible. Private insurance is $80-$90 per month.
Residence is easy for people with EU citizenship, but stricter for US citizens. Check with a Romanian consulate in the US.
ES
Spain has great weather, great food and wine, and beaches, and climate like California’s.
Madrid and Barcelona attract the most expats. A one-bedroom apartment rents for less than $800. In outlying towns, you can find a whole house for that rate. Beer and wine are about $5 a glass, and a nice dinner is $20.
Spain is a much safer country than the US. Its rate of violent crime is one-fifth that in the US.
Spain has free health care for all workers who make social security payments. If you’re earning your income outside of Spain, you’ll need to carry private health insurance which is $120-$250 a month, depending on coverage.
Because Spain is part of the EU, check with your Spanish embassy before going there.
